Firmware 4.1 can be acquired by running the 4.1 upgrader program in the homebrew channel. You should update to firmware 4.1 or 4.2. If I recall, firmware 3.1 is about 2 years old now so many games made after it won't work. If you're running 3.1 then that could be why your games aren't working.
